Hats off!

As I was tidying my very messy house I came across the Easter bonnet that I made with Christopher this year for his school's annual Easter Bonnet parade. (It's one of the hardest thing I have ever had to do, believe me - how does one make a suitably boyish bonnet ?!) It got me thinking about all the other hats that my kids have made over the years, for various school competitions. I realised that they were all winning hats, procuring prizes such as selection boxes, book tokens and Easter eggs! Now, don't get me wrong, many hours were put into making these masterpieces, but I did tend to find the best ones were made just hours before out of the nearest ice-cream tub or ancient bit of material I could find together with some staples or a wealth of stickyback plastic! In fact, even a couple of pairs of "American Tan" tights have even been used at short notice. Anyway, I thought I would showcase a couple of them here for posterity....
....there are more, which I will add when I find the pictures, together with any new additions that come up. Speaking of which - better get our thinking "caps" on for the next one - only 6 months to go to Christmas!!
